Aristophanes speech in praise of love in the Symposium, and Socrates speech? (Connect the myth of the of the
original splitting of human beings in two and their desire to become whole again in Aristophanes, with Socrates’
argument that love is also love of what one lacks). Discuss the various mysteries of love that Diotima reveals to
Socrates. Discuss the highest mystery, the love of Absolute beauty in the context of Plato’s theory of forms. (What is a form, how does it differ from an ordinary object of sense-experience, and what is the relation between Absolute Beauty and the forms?)
