A 4 page paper integrating the concepts of Orem’s self care model and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Astute health care providers encourage patients in both acute and long term care to do as much for themselves as they can, operating within their limits while also responsibly stretching them at the same time. This concept can be related to Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, which classifies human needs in a range of five classifications beginning with basic physiological needs and ending with self-actualization.
