Industrial revolution: The industrial revolution was the main cause of changing the history of the United States of America, this revolution laid down the basic structure so that the new modern world could be built upon it and the revolution took place during the years of 1820 till 1940. One of the most pivotal and intrinsic features of the industrial revolution was that it was the initiator and the founder for a concept called the market economy also it spoke in great detail about how mass production was essential for an economy of the market and this led the workers along with various consumers that were present in the market to have a keen interest in how the events unfolded after the industrial revolution (Hounshell, 1984). Market economy and mass production were some of the features that were a major part of the industrial revolution however another issue that was highlighted with this revolution was capitalism and how one could make use of migration so that labor could be transported to various locations where their services were needed. This concept of capitalism and labor led to the development of a theory that changed the entire concept of providing money to workers in the form of wages and also remuneration for the work that they did. The concept of mass production was a boon for all those who had plenty of resources as it only made them richer and financially sound thus leading to the creation of a concept in the society that we all are familiar with the haves and the have – not or in simple terms rich people and poor people (Rosen, 2012). The crux of the concept of capitalism was based on this truth of the rich and the poor and hence the industrial revolution was responsible for bringing about this change in theory. All those people who had plenty of resources were now trying to become richer by simply collecting all the wealth that they owned and thus stated forming and creating new industries on the basis of the resources that they had, this lead to give them a further boost and thus the birth of innovation took place where the rich only because of their abundance of resources were able to patent their products that they had formed. The driving force behind these innovations was only the money and the wealth that the rich had acquired and it gave rise to another class of people who were known as researches, hence in turn which led to the creation of capital markets and also the concept of making use of publicity to make their industries famous (Hounshell, David A. (1984)). Impact of Capitalism Capitalism did indeed have a significant mark on the industrial revolution so much so that it gave a spurt to the trading and the share markets even when the industrial revolution had lived its course, the impacts that it had left behind were far from being gone, the entire world presently still believes in the concept of dividing the society on the basis of their social status. The industrial revolution changed how work was perceived to be by people. It started off a chain reaction, production was mainly concerned with mobility, while those people who had the factors available with them and further landed them became people who were in great demand by the market. The market thus slowly changes from being hand driven to something that was more mechanical with all the dependence being solely on machines for all their productions, the American market saw a surge in usage of machinery for all their productions as well. Workers began to learn to use various machinery and the earlier labor intensive industry was now fit to be called the machine intensive industry. Because of this switch that was made the production of most industries also increased rapidly because they were no longer dependent on manual labor, the industries began to make use of new methods that could be used for enhancing their existing manufacturing processes. People were also at the same time gaining knowledge and experience from this new kind of industry. Further the workers founded their own unions which are known as labor unions and became aware of their indispensability thus started to demand for more wages and rights as workers and part of a labor union. Which lead to the creation of a negative impact on the way growth was being perceived? And this also affected the productivity levels of the workers and the output that they were generating hence leading to a major rift and divide between the owners of the factors and the people who were working on them. Hence yet again the world witnessed the concept of haves and have- not. The rich starting cribbing to become wealthier and it had a drastic impact in a negative form on the people of America The advent of transportation The united states of America has its proud historical past only because of the industrial revolution as it helped the country to discover the importance being innovative and at the same time devise new methods of manufacturing products which has lead them to being one of the leaders in the world when it comes to manufacturing. Another imperative development that the industrial revolution gave birth to was that of transportation. It helped America reach newer heights of progress and growth, the concept of importing and exporting of various minerals could only be possible with the help of transport that the industrial revolution brought along with it. Once these channels of work were created the lives of all the people of the United States of America took a turn for the positive. The industrial revolution of the 1800’s was also considered to have a pivotal impact on the Civil War that took place and all the lessons that America had learned with the industrial revolution were put to good use thus helping United States of America to triple its potential in the industry sector so that by the year 1900 it was considered to be one of the leading producers the world over. The transportation methods also witnessed the creation of the steam engine that helped migration immensely as all the factors could be moved from one place to another thus helping in shifting of skills. The civil war also landed immense support to the transportation system and the rail road systems were formed. With this the industries that were related to transportation saw a rise and rail road industries began to flourish rapidly. The north transportation industries thus were able to make tracks that were of better quality and had an edge over the counterparts on the south. Also the unions who were a part of war made use of this transportation system so that they could travel for their battles on these tracks that had been laid down (Luvaas, 1959). The confederacy was occupied only because the northern forces were able to travel easily and thus the war department sanctioned a special industry that was known as the United States Military Railroads so that they could design rails that would be used to transport troops along with the supplies that were needed. Once the war ended, the United States of America was responsible for the creation of one of the largest rail road systems in the entire world (Hartwell, 1967). Initially the United States of America was only an agricultural economy before it was caught up in the Civil War. The industrial revolution at that time was in its initial stages and would be responsible for the creation of one of the largest industrial forces of the world. However, the initial years of the industrial revolution were mostly limited to the parts of Mason Dixon thus the southern part was neglected. However, the climate that is found in the southern part was absolutely supreme for cultivating cotton however growing cotton is extremely labor intensive and needs manual labor to clean and also for the process of separating the cotton fibers. It was only when Eli Whitney provided the teeth that the process of separating cotton could be sped up and converts it into a business that was extremely profitable. Thus making cotton cultivation one of the most dominant industries of the south and giving more than 75% cotton to the entire world. Conclusion It was because of the industrial revolution that America could become a leader in the process of manufacturing of productions. The transportation systems also helped it to bring about the concept of import and export along with the steam engine that made it possible to ferry people from one end of America to the other. Hence the industrial revolution did have its own share of criticism because of the creation of the division of the society on the basis of status it also had its own plus points of providing America the foundation of being one of the supreme powers of manufacturing industries (Addington, 1994).
